**Job Overview**
**Responsibilities**
The **Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner** , for Hillcrest Family Services MHC in Dubuque, IA, the primary responsibilities include providing specialized and advanced direct and indirect client care. Addition, you will:
+ Review all cases referred to by therapists and/or other medical practitioners
+ Perform initial evaluations and follow-up care for medication management clients
+ Formulate diagnosis(es) of acute and chronic disease
+ Complete paperwork/dictation within 24 hours from service date
+ Administer medications and other therapeutic means, necessary to implement treatment within the scope of licensure
+ Provide education to patients and families around issues related to the patient's diagnosis, illness, and/or treatment
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Requirements**
**Education**
+ Graduate of an approved School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program
**Experience:**
+ Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
+ Clinical experience providing mental health services, preferably in a community-based or outpatient setting.
**Knowledge/Skills:**
+ Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.
+ Possessing the theoretical knowledge and skills involved in the delivery of mental health care services
+ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
+ Knowledge of ethical and legal standards governing mental health practice.
+ Flexibility to adapt to changing caseloads, client needs, and organizational priorities.
**Licenses/Certifications:**
+ Must hold current DEA certification in order to prescribe medications.
+ Licensed in the state of Iowa
